What I’m about to teach you will sound too good to be true, because it means that you can quickly and easily shed unwanted fat, and keep it off for the rest of your life. It’s not a magic pill. It’s actually a drink, and the only thing that could melt off body fat faster would be a blowtorch. It’s cheaper than eating at McDonald’s. It’s currently available to anyone who knows about it (this means you); and the best part, you’ll feel more energetic than you have in years.
Before we dive into it, I need to disclose two things to you first: I’m NOT a doctor. I’m just a guy who’s been using this stuff. The research is limited at this point and for all I know, I could drop dead from using it tomorrow. I doubt that, and feel incredible, but if I die tomorrow… I’m leaving one fit corpse behind. Other than that, I want you to know that I’m NOT making any money from this blog post. I know that the information on this page could single-handedly solve the obesity problem, and with it a shitload of society’s health problems. This is my idea of philanthropy: no more fat people. Okay, time to sit down and pay attention.
While you’re going about your day, your body is running in a state of glycolysis, where blood glucose provides most of your energy. While your body is in glycolysis, higher levels of insulin promote storage of body fat and block the release of that fat. As you eat during the day, your body burns some of that food as fuel and stores some of that food as fat, to be used as fuel later. When you sleep, your body switches into a state of ketosis where ketone bodies in the blood provide most of your energy. While your body is in ketosis, fat reserves are readily released and burned as fuel. In a perfect world, these two systems would balance each other out, but we’ve confused the hell out of Mother Nature with pizza, double bacon cheeseburgers, and soda. The result is that we pack on much more fat than we burn off. Hello obesity, heart disease, type-2 diabetes, and not getting laid.
Now you may have heard the word “ketosis” before, usually thrown around with the Atkins Diet. Their idea is to stop eating carbohydrates and basically starve yourself until your body has to choose between burning fat or dying. This has always been the basic idea of dieting: suffer through starving yourself to burn fat. Well I say, screw that! Here’s why: I cannot starve myself for days, walk into the gym, and then expect to bench press 315 pounds. I need energy, and I need a surplus of it for that. And for fuck’s sake, I don’t want to feel hungry all the time.
So this became the million-dollar question between me and some of my friends: Is there a way to chemically induce a state of ketosis? Is there a way that we could kick the body into a state of fat burning so high that we had a surplus of energy and weren’t hungry? Say the answer with me… YES! The answer is DL-3-Hydroxybutyric Acid Sodium Salt Powder. Drink some of this stuff on an empty stomach and in less than an hour, you have an abundance of energy powered by the burning of fat.
When my friends and I started playing with this stuff, there wasn’t much known about it. It was trial and error. Mostly error in the beginning. One of us did some math and figured that consuming 50 grams would be a good place to start. On day one, my plan was to wake up and take 50 grams of it before working out. I tried mixing it into orange juice. It was literally the worst thing I had ever drunk in my life. It took all the willpower I had to not puke. About twenty minutes after I drank it, when I thought I was ready to go to the gym, I bent over to pick up my gym bag and sprayed my kitchen floor, and some of my cabinets, with violent explosive diarrhea. After a quick shower and change of clothes, I headed for the gym. I could not believe how much energy I had. I hadn’t eaten anything since the night before, yet I had enough energy for my normal 1 hour of heavy weights followed by 1 hour of strenuous cardio. I had more energy than if I would have eaten a bunch of carbs before working out. It was ridiculous. I also realized that while in ketosis, my oxygen consumption was much lower. This stuff was awesome. I was on rocket fuel. Now I just had to figure out how to mask that horrific taste. And keep from shitting myself.
The answer for the taste is Simply Limeade (available at Walmart): 8 oz. of the limeade per 10 grams of the salt powder is perfectly drinkable, and at a cost of just 80 calories for the juice. Something about that lime juice neutralizes the taste.
The answer to shitting myself turned out to be taking the correct dose. One of my friends testing this is a pharmacist. He doesn’t work out (so his fuel needs are lower). He takes 8 grams in the morning, 8 grams in the afternoon, and then eats a normal dinner. He mixes each dose he takes with a little caffeine (you can buy caffeine pills if you want to do this but the combination makes most people too jittery, so try it without first). I’m taking 15 grams when I wake up (one hour before working out), working out for 2.5 hours, and then another 15 grams after I get back home from the gym, followed by a late dinner. Another one of my friends is a triathlete, and I’m not going to say how much he’s taking because I know it’s too much for any normal person. I wouldn’t take more than 30 grams inside of a 24-hour period; and if you’re not working out, I’d break that into three servings. With ketones, if you take too much your pH could get too high. High pH could force your body to produce extra insulin. If you don’t have the medical equipment to monitor this (and know how to deal with it) very bad things can happen.
How much fat will you lose and how fast? My pharmacist friend lost 8 pounds his first week (not working out). My triathlete friend and I lost about 1 pound per day that we worked out. Now we’re just in maintenance mode. Obviously the trick in the beginning is hardly eating and working out like an idiot until you’re under 10% body fat (15% for girls). The good news is that this stuff makes it possible because you have the energy to work out and you aren’t hungry.
You can click on these links to get a scale and some weight boats. You can buy the raw chemical in bulk as a “research chemical – not for human consumption” (sold this way to prevent liability). Use a protein shaker cup with a screen or insert to measure the limeade and break up the clumps. This is how I’ve been doing it.
Optionally, you can get it as a ready-to-use supplement (but this costs more and you have less control over the mixture). I haven’t tried these myself, but you may be interested in either KetoForce or KetoCaNa.
Personally, I like playing with my scale. I’ll measure out 4 weight boats at once (two days’ worth) and leave it inside a sealed Ziploc bag (gallon size) on my kitchen counter.
Start slow. Your first day, take one serving only of 10 grams before you work out on an empty stomach. Take it one hour before your workout. Eat like normal when you get hungry. Two to three days later you can go up to two servings. Always take one serving an hour before you work out. In the days that follow, if you’re crashing (getting hungry) try three servings OR two servings of 15 grams like me. (Ease into it, so your digestive track gets used to it, or you’ll shit yourself like I did.) If you’re diabetic, try to do as little as possible (8 grams or less) and keep a close eye on your insulin levels, as too much of this can spike insulin. Remember that it’s going to take your body about a week to re-engineering the cellular enzymes needed to burn fat instead of carbohydrate for fuel. Give things time to adjust.
Because you’re not eating as much, you need to be sure what you are eating is high in nutrients. Take a multivitamin. Supplement minerals (calcium is the most important). Feed those muscles a ton of protein. You’ll need to drink more water. No sugar (no soft drinks). No flour, wheat, or grains. Eat leafy greens for your primary source of carbohydrates, which should be 5% – 10% of what you eat. Eat lots of healthy fats (fish oil, etc.), which should be 65% – 80% of what you eat. Also, know the difference between actually “being hungry” and just “being used to eating at that time every day.”
If you’re looking for a pre-workout drink, I’ve learned that mixing this stuff with REDLINE Xtreme by VPX Supplements (one bottle, which is two doses) is like crack.
One last thing, if you learn anything about this stuff, please share with the group by posting a comment below. A great place to start further research is this article on Low Carb Dieting Myths. That’s it. You have no more excuses.
